Manx National Theatre’s Easter Workshop Brings Manx Mystical Creatures to Life

Updated: May 4, 2025

This Easter, the Manx National Theatre was alive with imagination, folklore, and a touch of island magic as young performers took part in our Easter Drama Workshop, themed around Manx mystical creatures. From the legendary Moddey Dhoo to the water-dwelling Glashtyn, our talented participants brought ancient Manx stories to the stage with energy, creativity, and heart.

A Week of Discovery, Drama, and Fun

Over the course of the Easter holidays, children from across the Isle of Man came together to explore the world of theatre through storytelling, movement, music, and character creation. Led by our passionate team of drama tutors, the workshop encouraged children of all ages and abilities to develop their confidence, performance skills, and teamwork.

What made this year’s theme so special was the connection to local Manx folklore. Each group learned about a different mythical creature, and then helped devise scenes and stories that celebrated the island’s rich cultural heritage in exciting and theatrical ways.

A Magical Performance for Families

At the end of the workshop, children presented a special showcase performance for parents, friends, and families—a celebration of everything they had learned and created together. With handmade costumes, original scripts, and lots of laughter, the young performers took to the stage and shared their stories with pride.

It was clear that every child had worked incredibly hard, and the final performance was a joyful, heartwarming display of their talent, imagination, and dedication. The audience was treated to magical moments, powerful scenes, and a true sense of community spirit.

Celebrating Inclusion and Creativity

At Manx National Theatre, we believe in theatre for all. Our workshops are inclusive, supportive, and designed to give every child the chance to shine - regardless of experience, background, or ability. The Easter Workshop was a perfect example of how the performing arts can empower young people, boost self-esteem, and build lifelong skills.
