Adult Drama Classes – Manx National Theatre
Ever sat in the audience and thought, “I’d love to try that”?
Or maybe you just miss that creative spark you had at school, or you’re looking for something fun, social, and a little bit different.

Our adult drama classes are open to anyone aged 18 and over, right here on the Isle of Man. Maybe you’ve always loved the idea of performing or maybe you’re simply curious to try something new.

You don’t need experience. You don’t need to be loud or confident. You just need to show up.
It’s a relaxed, welcoming space where you can meet new people, have a laugh, and explore what it’s like to step into someone else’s shoes for a while. Some come to build confidence. Others just come for the joy of it.

No pressure, no spotlight just stories, connection, and that brilliant feeling you get when you try something new and realise… you can do it.

Why Try Acting?

There’s something genuinely uplifting about stepping into a space where you can just be yourself or someone else entirely for a little while. Adult drama classes aren’t about being the best actor in the room; they’re about expression, confidence, connection, and joy. It’s a chance to speak, move, laugh, and let go of the day-to-day in a way that feels energising and real.

You don’t need to be loud or outgoing. You just need a bit of curiosity and the willingness to give it a go. Along the way, you might surprise yourself, meet brilliant people, or reconnect with a creative part of you that’s been quietly waiting in the wings.

And honestly? There’s nothing quite like that buzz after a session when you walk out thinking, “I actually did that and I loved it.”

Who Are These Classes For?
In short they’re for you! These adult drama classes are for anyone aged 18 and over living on the Isle of Man who’s curious about theatre, creativity, or simply doing something a bit different with their time.
You don’t need to have any background in drama. You don’t need to have stood on a stage before or know what a monologue is. Maybe you’ve always secretly wanted to act but never had the chance. Maybe you’re a bit shy and want to grow in confidence. Maybe you’re looking for a way to meet people, laugh, and escape the everyday. Or maybe you used to perform and miss the feeling of it all stepping into a story, playing a character, using your voice and body in a way that feels alive.

Our classes are open to everyone: all ages, all backgrounds, all levels of experience. You might work in an office, a shop, at home -or not at all -drama can be a space that belongs just to you. Some of our student come because they love the energy of it. Others come to work on public speaking, build confidence, or rediscover a creative spark. We’ve had people in their twenties and people in their seventies, all turning up with the same mix of nerves, excitement, and that quiet feeling of “I’ve always wanted to try this.”

You don’t need to be a ‘theatre person’. You just need to bring yourself, an open mind, and a willingness to join in. That’s it. Drama is for everyone and we mean that. So if you’re reading this and thinking “could I?” — the answer is yes. Come along. You’re exactly who we had in mind.
